Speaker: Nick Barcet, Ubuntu Server Product Manager, Canonical.
This session will provide an overview of the various virtualization technologies available on Ubuntu, explain their advantages and disadvantages, and discuss appropriate use cases for each type. From free to non-free virtualization technologies, Ubuntu now offers 4 different types of "supported" virtualization technologies to its users:
<> KVM: the distribution's open source choice
<> VMWare: Server or ESX guest
<> Parallels: OpenVZ and Desktop
<> Community supported choices: Xen & vServer
You'll learn why KVM was chosen over Xen as Ubuntu's supported open source virtualization technology and receive guidance on technology choices for large data center deployments, small data center deployments and desktop usages.
