Speaker: Dennis Moreau, PhD, CTO and Co-Founder, Configuresoft, Inc.
Emerging virtualization technologies such as Xen hold the promise of better IT asset utilization, more agile IT asset allocation and more secure and consolidated IT infrastructure. The same agile provisioning capabilities that support these compelling value propositions introduce new complexity into IT configuration policy compliance efforts. Virtual systems with highly dynamic configurations must be demonstrably compliant, not just in an intended configuration state, but in any state into which such a system may be driven. The adoption of virtualization increases resource and infrastructure sharing to unprecedented levels. The resulting coupling of asset trust levels and security postures will be addressed together with recommended methodological adjustment for risk driven compliance efforts.
