Some of the world's busiest web sites use memcached, a high-performance distributed caching system, to speed up dynamic web applications by caching entire objects instead of repeating database queries. The new libmemcached, a lightweight client for memcached, adds an asynchronous and replicated layer and provides consistent hashing to allow users to migrate to new servers with minimal impact.
