Speaker: Maria Woods, General Counsel, StillSecure.
Open source components are being utilized within commercial software products at an unprecedented rate. In her presentation, Maria will describe the dual-license distribution model that is quickly being adopted among the software community. She will discuss open source trends, particularly in network security where integration has become the holy grail, and describe the number of business opportunities surrounding open source including OEMs.
Based on Maria’s experience, this session will prove helpful for companies who are building an open source product, as opposed to an open source project evolving into a company. In addition, she will provide tips on how to build a user-community from scratch. Maria will incorporate thought provoking questions such as: Where is open source going? Will OSI (Open Source Initiative) continue to be the standard or will is dissipate as new variations of open source are introduced? Will open source bifurcate with network security?
