The open source desktop is taking hold in the enterprise as well as in our educational institutions. What are the triggers for this new wave of adoptions and will this growth be sustained? In this presentation you will hear about two studies which are directed at understanding these trigger forces. One study takes a look at common enterprise-related office tasks and shows how well open source solutions handle these tasks. The other study evaluates factors involved in a complete replacement of departmental desktops with open source alternatives. Attendees will be able to identify the triggers that will either enable or inhibit the adoption of an open source desktop solution in their enterprise environment.
